We offer the highest quality dance training at affordable prices and an opportunity for all dancers to take part in shows and exams.
For those who would like to take their dance training to the next level we have a competition squad competing in the southern area.
Dancers learn technique, strength, stamina, flexibility, coordination and flexibility in a safe and creative environment, aswell as learning life skills including discipline, trust, confidence, team working friendship building. We pride ourselves on a family friendly environment!
Founded in 2009 by the principle Gemma Williams, gemsdance offers classes after school times and Saturdays aswell as after school clubs and workshops to schools in the havant and Waterlooville area.
BALLET
ISTD Ballet classes are available for dancers of all ages.
Ballet is the foundation to many dance styles and is a fun and classical style of dance to learn and perform. Pupils follow the ISTD syllabus providing a comprehensive Ballet training for children who wish to dance for pleasure and also for those who are interested I progressing to professional training. Our Ballet dancers take annual exams if they wish and perform in a show at the kings theatre.
STREET / HIP HOP
Have you always aspired to learn those cool moves that we all watch on the music videos? Do you want to keep fit whilst being fully entertained and discover the hidden dancer whithin yourself? Then commercial street/hip hop dance classes are the right choice for you!
Street dance is a fun and energetic style of dance that will keep you fit and teach you to let go and express yourself, will help improve your balance, strength and flexibility and build up your confidence. It will also improve your performance skills if you are already doing other dance styles.
Gemsdance provides Street dance classes for 3- 30 year olds at any level. Our street dancers have the chance to perform in shows as well as take exams with UDO and IDTA examining boards.
CHEERLEADING
Cheerleading is a great sport and a fantastic way to make new friends. Cheerleading is a way to keep fit while having lots of fun,learn new skills and develope a child’s co-ordination, poise and increase self-confidence. American style cheerleading is fun, energetic, exciting, and all with funky style dancing to the latest music.
Cheerleading includes cheers, chants, dance, kicks and jumps and basic stunting and you get to use pom poms!
TAP
Our tap classes are one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance.
Tap dance is a fun way of developing coordination and skill. Our popular Tap class follows Istd dance syllabus and can be enjoyed by all. Tappers have the opportunity to take annual exams if they wish and perform in shows.
ACRO
Acro is a great way to enhance a dancers training and build strength and flexibility.
Pupils have fun learning a variety of moves including, handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, Ariels, back flips, handsprings and many more.
FREESTYLE DISCO
Freestyle Disco is one of the trendiest and most popular form of dance in the UK today.
It involves runs, spins, kicks and leaps as well as many other diverse steps and movements with lots of different arm and hand actions. The music can be fast and ‘beaty’ or slow and sensuous, allowing dancers of all ages to use freedom of expression to enhance their style.
Suitable for children aged 3 upwards, the classes are set to catchy tracks of music which engage the children and boost their enjoyment of learning short dances and combinations utilising both feet and arms positions. Dancers will have the chance to perform in shows and take IDTA medal tests which will provide them with certificates and medals for their acheivements.
Gemsdance also has 2 performance teams, Ignite and Blaze who perform and compete around the southcoast.

Gemma Williams-
Principle
Started dancing a very young age and trained in, Freestyle/disco,Street/hip hop, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Modern,Rock n Roll, Ballroom and Latin, contemporary and Cheerleading.
Went onto be a professional and danced in many venues around the world from The King theatre to Disneyland. Came back to the Portsmouth area to take teachers qualifications and opened Gemsdance in 2009.
Megan
Dance Teacher
Megan has been dancing since 3 years of age and is trained in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, rock n roll, disco/freestyle, contemporary, cheerleading, commercial and street. Megan is also a multi skilled performer including fire dancing and ariel hoop.
Alongside teaching for Gemsdance, Megan has performed abroad in various dance and singing contracts. Megan has performed and choreographed her own shows in Cyprus and has been in tribute shows such as performing as Lady Gaga in Mallorca and a backing dancing for a Michael Jackson touring show.
Megan has been a showgirl in various shows abroad and in England and has performed as a cancan girl in Moulin Rouge style shows for corporate events.
Megan learnt to cheerlead whilst still in dance training and has competed for BCA. Megan enjoys teaching cheerleading for Gemsdance and regularly works with the children on technique and safety in stunts and lifts.
Natalie Cawte
Dance Teacher
After completing her training at the Royal Ballet Associates & 3 years at the Central School of Ballet, Natalie went on to join the Scottish Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, English National Ballet and Ballet Theatre UK. Her performances include many principal roles. Natalie is a qualified ISTD ballet teacher and experienced in coaching classical ballet to all ages.
Amber
Principle
Amber has been dancing since the age of 3, training in ballet, tap and modern. She competed in many dance festivals and gained a 1st place medal at the All England finals in Tap!
At 16 she gained a place at Laine Theatre Arts and trained for 3 years and recieving her diploma in and dance and teaching.
After college Amber went on to dance professionally on various cruise ships around the world, working with companies such as Costa cruises and princess cruises for 6 years.
In between contracts Amber returned home and taught dance in various places around the south.

Principle
Amy has danced since she was 3 years and spent most of her years competing in different levels and style of dance. Amy went on to study Btec Dance which led her to dancing in Duisburg Germany.
Amy has been with Gemsdance for over 10 years, starting as a student and now doing what she loves teaching!
